1.God has given me a gift to communicate with others. Therefore the most effective way that I have used in evangelization is personal contact and sharing like I have done in our Small Christian Communities and during Week of Christian Unity Prayer and Fellowship meetings. I learnt that faith growth is a journey, and evangelization means joining others in thier journeys. This joining others is what has made me more courageous. When someone comes to me with a question of my Catholic faith, I usualy feel humbled to answer him/her and if I have no readily answer I go to do research both from the Bible and others like Catechism of the Catholic Church. I have done this with the guidance from the Holy Spirit.
When I joined the Small Christian Community (SCC) in my parish, I was very shy and I could not see myself aswering any question or contributing to the discussion. After some time the Coordinator was not very happy with some of us who were only passengers in the SCC meetings. He invited every one of us to be a participant and that is where my courage came from. I became very vocal and was elected the Secretary of the team. After two terms of three years each I was elected the Coordinator of the group. Todate I can comfortably evangelize to many people through sharing and personal contact.

2. To me this method is very effective because when we go for Bible study and sharing, people including those from Protestant Churches cannot believe that a Catholic faithful can have all the materials we discuss and share. The Protestant Churches felt that they were the only one who can dominate Week of Prayer for Christian Unity but we have proved them wrong. Sometimes we are given Bible verse to read and prepare for discussion, but with all my preparation, when I stand to contribute the Holy Spirit guides me and sometimes I find myself having more materials than I had prepared. The recent Bible sharing and study introduced in our parish has proved to be very effective.

1. God has gifted me with an ability to verbaly express myself. Therefore the most effective way for me to evangelize has been with one-on-one sharing or facilitating the sharing of small faith communities. God has graced my life with amazing and inspiring teachers. I gleen from them what I can and turn to share it with others. I am always humbled when someone approaches me with questions about the faith or are experienceing suffering of some kind. When asked a question I say a quick prayer to the Holy Spirit such as, "give me YOUR words for this person". I will listen closely and then a certain "feeling" will hit when the real issue is presented. I then seem to "know" what to say. I love to see the light in their eyes when they have heard what they need to hear. I am very aware at that time that it is not me who has answered but that I have become a conduit for the Holy Spirit. Also I have been told that I am easy to approach and easy to share deep concerns with therefore I have many opportunities to use the gifts. Again, always very humbling.

I also have great success in facilitation of small faith communities. I have no explanation for this - just that God has gifted me with the ability to share my faith.

2. I have also done a lot of Called and Gifted work. I am aware of my gifts so am very comfortable putting myself in the position that God can work through me to reach others. If we use our gifts and pray to do God's will in our life He puts the things He needs us to do in our path. How can that not be effective?

1. One form of evangelism I have witnessed is prayer and doing kind deeds for the person. Prayer for an unsaved person, softens the soil of their hearts. Good deeds such as giving a present or shoveling their driveway, burns hot coals of conviction on them. I prayed for my dad to receive Christ. I started to pray the Ephesians prayers in chapter one and three for him. Within a short time he accepted Christ as His Lord and Savior.

2. This was effective because it brought a harvest which takes time and prayer and work to grow and develop. If you give up too soon on the harvest, your work will not produce fruit.

In catechetics I have seen all kinds of things tried. Ultimately what works depends on the witness of the teacher. More than anything else, lived holiness is so attractive, that the other methods only augment it, and cannot replace it. I do some work in catechesis for adults and we are always evaluating the method. I really believe that no method is effective with out prayer and personal holiness, and that many different methods work. I have seen the same lesson given by someone who lacked the conviction of life, and though, perhaps technically the better teacher, the effects were negligible, as opposed to a teacher who prayed, lived and then passed on what he believed with his convictions and his life.

All of this leads me to self reflection. Am I holy enough? Am I depending on Jesus enough? Am I praying and doing enough to live as Christ asks me to live?
